On October 1-4, 2007 Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center operations staff participated in Ice Maintenance and Equipment Operations courses (IMEO) conducted on site by STAR (Serving the American Rinks). STAR technical training courses are designed to provide rink professionals with the opportunity to receive technical certification. STAR is recognized by the NHL and is the leading training provider in the industry. Donald Zamboni, grandson of the inventor of the Zamboni, participated in the courses as an instructor.
On Thursday, January 3, 2008, Sugar Land Ice & Sports will offer free figure skating and hockey classes. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of skating first hand, with instruction by top level coaches. The purpose of the sessions is to give skaters a feel for what ice skating classes are really like. Don't miss this chance to sample ice skating for free.
Space in the classes is limited, so SLISC asks interested skaters to reserve a spot. For figure skating, please contact Julie Holmes at 281-265-7461 (email: jholmes@sugarlandice.com). For hockey, please contact Lisa Flanagan at 281-265-7463 (email: lflanagan@sugarlandice.com). Skaters and parents are under no obligation but we do ask that you sign a liability waiver. Skaters must be 3 years or older to participate. Copies of the waiver are available below or in the SLISC Proshop.
